Abstract:
The American Community Survey (ACS) is the largest survey in the Nation, annually
collecting demographic, social, and economic statistics for small areas and small
populations, and providing 1-, 3-, and 5-year data products for virtually every
community across the country. In an effort to ensure the least burden on the
public at the greatest benefit, the Census Bureau conducted in 2014 a content
review of all 72 household and person-based questions on the survey. This
discussion will present the results of that review, including the methodological
approach used and decision criteria employed. Lastly, we will present the results
of the analysis, including the seven questions identified as candidates for
removal, and next steps in the process to finalize any survey changes.
